5 Facts About Delta-8 THC

Five Facts Regarding Delta-8 THC

If you’ve already tried Delta-8 THC you know how similar, yet different, it is from cannabis. However, there are still

some things you might not have known about this hemp-derived extract. Therefore, we decided to come up with 5 facts about Delta-8 THC that you might not have known about. Some of these are obvious if you’ve already tried them, but some are not so obvious.

5 Facts About Delta-8 THC

The Hemp Plant

Here is our list of five facts about Delta 8 THC :

DELTA-8 THC WILL GET YOU HIGH

This one is fairly obvious; we all know that THC is the active ingredient in cannabis that gets you high. What you may not have known is that hemp also possesses THC in small amounts. We extract the THC from hemp and use the 8th carbon bond instead of the 9th. The reason why we do this is that Delta-9 THC is not permitted under the Farm Bill; however, Delta-8 THC is. So we use this specific hemp extract to make our products. Although you could use the cannabis plant to get the same results, government restrictions prohibit cannabis from being used. The cannabis plant produces a higher number of Delta-9 THC, which is against federal law.

THIS IS NOT A NEW PRODUCT

Although it might be new to you, this extract has been around since the ’70s. It was first used in research along with CBD and Delta-9 THC on lab rats. Scientists were trying to discover what type of effects it had on the immune system. At the time, the labor-intensive work of extracting and isolating the 8th carbon didn’t seem beneficial. This is because most people who were looking to get high would use cannabis. However, the Farm Bill introduced the general public to lesser-known hemp extracts. This included CBD and Delta-8 THC which can be extracted from the hemp plant. This paved the way for new products like Delta-8 THC Cartridges.

IT USES TERPENES

While many people are aware of the cannabinoids in the hemp plant, very few are aware of the terpenes in them. The aromatic compounds which are found in the hemp plant are called terpenes. In addition, they can exist in many other plants. The aromatic oils of terpenes are the cause of different scents and flavors in a variety of cannabis strains. For instance, our Cali Orange Kush strain utilizes a terpene profile that delivers the smell and taste of orange and citrus. There are as many as 20,000 terpenes that exist, and the hemp plant produces more than 100 of them. Some of the most common terpenes in hemp are Myrcene, Limonene, Linalool, Caryophyllene, Eucalyptol, Alpha-Bisabolol, Trans-Nerolido, and many more.

THERE ARE DIFFERENT STRAINS

Just like cannabis, you’ll find Delta-8 THC has different strains which include Indica, Sativa, and Hybrid. Here is a short breakdown of each strain – When you think of Indica, think of “in the couch”. This strain promotes relaxation, hence why “in the couch” is a common saying. A very popular product that contains this strain is our Grand Daddy Purp cart. Another popular strain is Sativa – This strain promotes energy. Most products will include terpenes to enhance the user’s experience based on the type of strain. Finally, the Hybrid is a mixture of both Indica and Sativa. You’ll find some products that use hybrid strains that usually have one strain more dominant than the other. There is no one strain better than the other – It just depends on your mood.

THERE IS NO DELTA-8 THC FLOWER

The Hemp flower or CBD Flower is very popular among marijuana smokers looking for an alternative. However, you’ll be disappointed to learn that Delta-8 THC does not produce a flower that you can smoke. This is because Delta 8 THC is an extract from the Hemp plant. Although products like CBD and Delta-9 THC are also extracts that produce flowers, this is not the case for Delta-8. CBD Flowers are actually industrial hemp flowers that produce high amounts of CBD with low amounts of THC. However, cannabis is cultivated for the amounts of high Delta-9 THC but it produces low amounts of CBD. The hemp plant does not naturally produce high amounts of Delta-8 THC. It then has to be extracted through a labor-intensive process to deliver the end result.

Other Delta-8 THC Facts

Delta-8 is not considered marijuana because it doesn’t come from the cannabis plant. It is a hemp extract that is very similar to marijuana, but small molecular differences make it different. Although it does get you high, it’s not as intense when compared to marijuana. There are still a lot of things unknown about Delta-8 THC but what we do know is that it can produce terpenes, and it also has different strains.
