It shouldn’t come as a surprise that one of the latest cannabinoids to emerge is 11-Hydroxy-THC (Delta 11 THC). In fact, if you’ve ever taken an edible you’re already familiar with the effects of 11-hydroxy-THC. We’ll break down what exactly Delta 11 is and if it’s possible to vape it.
What is 11-Hydroxy-THC?
The reason why you’re probably familiar with the effects of 11-hydroxy-thc is because this is how your body processes edibles. When you take a D8 or D9 edible it has to go through your digestive system first.
However, this is the reason why edibles take longer to kick in when compared to vaping, because the THC gets digested when ingested. Once the THC is digested your body turns the D8 or D9 into what’s known as 11-hydroxy-thc.
Now that the THC is digested it makes its way into your liver and gets transmitted into your bloodstream. This means that your body absorbs more THC when compared to vaping.
On average, you’re only getting about 5% of the THC when vaped. However, your body can absorb up to 25% of the THC when ingested. This is the reason why veteran cannabis users experience a hard time when it comes to edibles.
One of the biggest disadvantages for some users is having to wait for the edibles to kick in. The high can kick in 30 minutes to 1 ½ hours after ingesting. It’s crazy to think how unpredictable this can be and how strong the effects will be.
The most difficult thing about edibles is that you won’t know if you took too much or too little until way after. It all comes down to how fast your digestive system works and how tolerant you are to THC
The idea behind being able to vape Delta 11 THC comes down to the absorption rate and the time it takes to hit your system. Edibles seem to have a delayed reaction but are very potent; Therefore; the goal of vaping 11-hydroxy-THC is to replicate that experience naturally.
This doesn’t mean that Delta 11 THC has stomach acid in it or anything crazy like that. It means that the same chemical that’s present in THC is unlocked and made available in a vape form.
The Delta 11 Experience
Now that you’re familiar with how 11-hydroxy-THC works, the goal of Delta 11 is to give you that familiar, potent experience. But, because you’re vaping the THC instead of eating it, you should experience a faster delivery rate.
In addition to a faster delivery rate, Delta 11 is very potent, but not as potent as an actual edible. The potency comes down to how much THC your body absorbs. Also, it depends on the individual user’s Endocannabinoid System (ECS) which determines how you react to THC in general.
Potency of Delta 11 THC
Whenever the potency of THC is discussed, what this really means is how much THC your body is absorbing. Although Delta 11 THC products do include D11 in them, other cannabinoids such as D8, D9, THCh,ect. are included to help your body absorb more THC.
For this reason, D11 products are very potent and should deliver a similar experience as an edibles high because of the type of THC in it. If you’re into highly potent products then 11-hydroxy-THC means that you should have a good time.
